Planet Ford Supports Lil Jesse Toy Drive for Houston Cancer Center

Big Jesse (father), Lil Jesse, and Angie (mother) Gutierrez, winners of Randall Reed’s Planet Ford Whisperer Contest Grand Prize, a Ford F-150. Family turns red truck into sleigh to deliver toys to children with cancer.

Wonderful and inspiring holiday news that Planet Ford in Spring is proud to be part of.  Lil’ Jesse Gutierrez, a young cancer survivor and whose family won Randall Reed’s  #PlanetFordWhisperer contest in September, wants to pay it forward. The family who won a  new Ford F-150 the contest are transforming their big red truck into a big red sleigh to make some very special holiday deliveries.

Special Lil Delivery

Lil Jesse says he wants to spread some Christmas cheer to other children at the Houston hospital where he was treated. He has called on the help of Mr. Reed, The Ford Whisperer and the Planet Ford stores. Lil Jesse is a true inspiration, having battled non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer and won. He has now been in remission for over two years. The 10-year-old is an actor and performs as a rapper at various venues across Texas. His ultimate dream after winning the Ford F-150 was to deliver toys to young patients battling cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Planet Ford and Houston Humanitarian Award recipient, Mythiquer Pickett have teamed up with Lil Jesse to create this special toy drive. They’re going to help brighten the lives of young cancer patients who can’t be home for the holidays because they’re undergoing treatment.

“Contagious positivity is spreading love, hope, joy and compassion into the lives of people,” says Mr. Pickett. And “finally creating an environment where parents never have to say sorry.” Pickett’s charity is We See Abilities. He gives those with special needs a better quality of life through the joy of sports and community activities.

Lil’ Toy Drive!

The public is invited to help by dropping off new unopened toys, now through December 8th at both locations: Planet Ford off I-45 in Spring and Planet Ford on Hwy. 59 in Humble.

On December 10th, Lil Jesse and Mythiquer Pickett will load up the Planet Ford F-150 sleight with toys and goodies and deliver them to all the special girls and boys.

Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart, President & Director of the Miss Houston Pageant, and her team will be helping with the toy drive. The TV host and actress has starred in Tyler Perry’s “For Better or Worse.” Miss Houston 2018 Lesha Wincher will be dressed for the occasion including her crown and sash. Ms. Stewart is bringing her crown and sash to try on and take photos in during the event. Adidas is providing shoes for the kids to kick that cancer out! The shoes will get them moving and assist with rehab therapy. Meanwhile, State Farm Insurance is donating backpacks stuffed with a teddy bear. Microsoft Corporation is donating a game console to the pediatric floor, and Benchmark Bank will provide piggy banks for the kids to save for their bright future ahead of them when they leave the hospital. Plus, The Liquor Cabinet is providing a monetary donation.

“Flip”ping Over the Support

Best of all, local Houston rapper Lil’ Flip will escort Lil Jesse to deliver all the toys collected at both Houston-area Ford dealerships to approximately 45 pediatric cancer patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Truck Night In America To Premiere F-Series Special

Planet Ford in Spring, TexasF-Series Truck Night In American Special is excited about a new prime-time Ford feature series making its debut on HISTORY® channel this Saturday, November 10th. The original series line up will include “Truck Night in America,” “Truck Hunters,” “Born Tough: Inside the Ford Factory,” “American Restoration: Truck Edition,” “Trucks Transformed: Custom Culture” and “Rescue Trucks”. In addition, 60-second vignettes are scheduled to air all weekend long and on HISTORY’s digital and social channels.

F-Series, The Truck of America

“Truck Weekend in America” programming includes:

“Truck Night in America” – Saturday, 8 p.m. EST

The weekend will kick off with challenging truck versus terrain. Truck owners from across the U.S. compete in tough challenges to test their ingenuity and driving ability in the opening segment, “Truck Night in America.”

You Just Got Into A Car Accident, Now What? Here’s Some Helpful Tips.

There are over 6-million car accidents a day in the U.S. According to auto insurance industry experts, the average driver will be in a car accident once every 18 or so years. This means that, over the course of a lifetime, the average motorist will be in about four car accidents.

So, what do you do after an accident?

  • Stop: Never drive away from the scene, even if it is a minor one.
  • Move your vehicle out of traffic: If you’re able to, you and the other vehicles involved should move out of traffic and move to a safe area where information can be exchanged.
  • Call the police: It is always a good idea and practice to call the police, you may need a police report to file a claim with your insurance company.
  • Accurate reporting: When the police arrive, they will be taking a statement. Make sure you tell the officers exactly what happened, if you are not able to recall specifics, make sure to communicate that to the officer instead of speculating, guessing or accidentally mistaking any facts.
  • Take pictures: If your cell phone has a camera you should take pictures of the vehicles if the damage is visible. If you have visible injuries, you should take a picture of that as well.
  • Exchange information: If you do not have the police report to the accident, you should obtain the names, address and phone number of all parties involved in the accident. You should provide and exchange insurance information. If there is a witness, you should obtain their information as well.
  • Police report: If police are reporting the accident, the officer will usually provide all drivers with a police report number, where you can use that number later to obtain the police report and sometimes be provided with other parties insurance information. If the accident occurs on a state highway, you must request the report from the state police.
  • Insurance: Alert your insurance company as soon as possible.
  • Keep a file: You should keep all accident-related documents and information, claim number, claim’s adjuster who is handling the claim, receipts of a rental car and other expenses incurred as a result of the accident.

Co-Pilot360 Paves Future Of Driver-Assist Technologies

Standard Driver-Assist Technologies So long are the days of needing to look over their shoulder and relying on human judgement (you should always look in conjunction with driver assist), after all, humans are… human. Plus, at Planet Ford in Spring our customers look for the latest and greatest automotive technology around like Ford’s new driver-assist Co-Pilot360.

Earlier this year, Ford introduced Co-Pilot360, its advanced suite of standard driver-assist technologies among full-line brands. Co-Pilot360 aims to help people around the world more safely and confidently face congested roads.

“Though our vehicles today are safer than ever, drivers tell us they are still stressed about getting in a potential accident,” said Jim Farley, Ford president, Global Markets. “That’s one reason why we’re making these must-have technologies accessible to millions of customers each year.”

Advanced Standard Driver Assist Package

The advanced tech suit includes:

  • standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • blind spot information system
  • lane keeping system
  • rear backup camera
  • auto high beam lighting

This combination of assist features isn’t offered on non-luxury competitors in as standard in North America. Ford Co-Pilot360 will roll out across Ford’s new passenger cars, SUVs and trucks up to F-150 in North America, and will appear on the new 2019 Ford Edge and Edge ST this fall (very, very soon).

What Are Driver-Assist Technologies For 360?

Standard Driver-Assist Technologies The technology addresses Ford research showing a growing trend of people worrying about hitting pedestrians – and will be standard on 91 percent of Ford vehicles in North America by 2020. Ford Co-Pilot360 starts with standard automatic emergency braking – called pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection – that can help drivers avoid collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians who might accidentally cross in front of the vehicle’s path. If a potential collision is detected, a warning flashes and an alert sounds, and if the driver’s response is not sufficient, the system can automatically apply the brakes to help minimize a frontal collision.

Blind spot information system, or BLIS, uses radar to identify a vehicle entering the blind spot and alerts the driver with an indicator light in the side-view mirror. Cross-traffic alert Standard Driver-Assist Technologies can warn drivers of traffic behind when slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway.

Lane keeping system has three functions:

  • The first can notify drivers through steering wheel vibration that they need to correct course when the system detects the vehicle drifting close to lane markings
  • The second provides steering torque to steer back toward the center of the lane
  • Third, a driver alert system, continuously monitors driving pattern using a forward-looking camera and provides visual and audio warnings when the system estimates the driver’s vigilance level to be less than that of an attentive driver

Whether it’s blind spot monitoring, lane keeping, backup cam, auto high beam lighting or pedestrian detection, Co-Pilot360 will give you the watchful eye you need for a safer, proactive travel.

Planet Ford Supports our Warriors in Pink

The Planet Ford team in Spring, TX and Randall Reed family believe in doing all we can to support our community and causes. This month is Breast Cancer Awareness month, a very important annual event to help increase awareness of the disease that affects so many that we care about. Ford has an ongoing campaign called Ford Warriors in Pink.

The Ford Motor Co., which has been active in fighting against breast cancer since 1993, has a mission: “Ford Warriors in Pink is dedicated to helping those touched by breast cancer, through actions that support, inspire and empower patients, survivors and co-survivors throughout their journey.”

The program has been such a great success. Each year they have t helped thousands of patients, survivors, and co-survivors affected by cancer.

A way you can help give #moregooddays 

Breast Cancer patients and survivors are fighters, they count on their good days to help get through the tough ones. Ford Warriors in Pink invites you to create a care package for someone who is going through treatment to give #moregooddays.
