Planet Ford Awarding Car to 2017/2018 Spring ISD Teacher of the Year

Planet Ford in Spring, TX and the Randall Reed family are excited to be part of a special celebration on May 2, 2018 to honor the best of Spring Independent School District’s best. This year, two of the top educators of the 2017/2018 will be recognized and one will receive a Ford dream ride courtesy of Planet Ford and the Reed family. Shawn Burns, Operating Partner/General Manager of Planet Ford, located on I-45, will have the pleasure of announcing the winners and awarding one with the keys to their choice of a new Ford Escape SUV or Ford Fusion sedan. The other top educator will win a all-expense paid cruise also courtesy of Planet Ford and the Reeds.

This is the fourth year that Planet Ford has had the pleasure of helping to celebrate area educators during the Spring ISD Employee Recognition Banquet. Meet some of our prior winners, Robert Silvy (left) drove away in a new Ford Escape.  Tamia McEwen (right) was awarded a Carnival Preferred Awards Plus all-expense paid cruise for two to the Bahamas.

“Our local educators do so much, often going above and beyond the call of duty,” said Mr. Burns. “This is a special honor that Planet Ford and our team is happy to do to celebrate and thank our teachers for they do. We are looking forward to surprising these leading educators and delivering their Ford’tastic prizes.”

Owner Randall Reed, owner, agrees, “These educator are at the heart of shaping our community,” he said. “They do more than just educate our young people, they are instrumental in molding these young people lives, which ultimately has an impact on everyone’s futures. We are pleased that we can recognize their lifetime work by fulfilling a dream of a lifetime with a new Ford and well-earned exotic getaway.”

Spring Independent School District’s Teacher of the Year program recognizes outstanding educators for their commitment to excellence in education. Each year, every Spring ISD school selects a campus Teacher of the Year. Those winners are then invited to submit materials to a committee to be considered as a finalist for the district’s Teacher of the Year program. From there, the selection committee chooses two educators to represent the district.

Spring ISD Employee Recognition Banquet will be held at the Hilton at 12400 Greenspoint Drive in Houston, TX. The event begins at 6 p.m. and the presentation will take place sometime before 7:30 p.m.

This will be one of three giveaways from Planet Ford this year. The other two Fords will be awarded at the May 18th Grand Opening of Planet Ford in Spring. The event, which begins at 6 p.m. will name the PlanetFordWhisperer.com contest winner and an on-site winner for the remaining $80,000 dream Ford.

D’Trajon Moore Planet Ford Scholarship Recipient

Planet Ford in Spring believes in supporting our kids and their futures. Each year, the Reed family and Planet Ford are proud to work with area schools to identify a special scholarship recipient. This year, our team surprised D’Trajon Moore with a check for $5,000 to use towards college.

He will graduate from Carl Wunsche, Sr. High School in June and continue his education at Bunn College. He plans to obtain a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and specialize in mental health disorders. We were excited and honored to present D’Trajon with this award. On behalf of Planet Ford, we wish you the best of luck as you start a new chapter in your life and transition to college life. Congratulations D’Trajon!

2018 MUSTANG COBRA JET CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY

The team at Planet Ford in Spring (serving Houston) is excited about the new 2018 50th anniversary Mustang Cobra Jet from Ford Performance. It is going to be the most powerful and quickest version from the factory ever, powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter Coyote V8, with performance tuned by Ford Performance to give racers a proven, durable powertrain. It is capable of running the quarter-mile in the mid-8-second range while topping 150 mph and will feature a limited production run of 68 cars, which will be available in Race Red or Oxford White.

According to Ford Motor Company, 50 years ago, the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet took to the staging lanes at drag strips everywhere – and along with the resulting wins, a legend was born. Now, Mustang Cobra Jet drag strip race car by Ford Performance is making it’s return – targeted to be the most powerful and quickest version from the factory yet. It is  capable of running the quarter-mile in the mid-8-second range all while topping out around 150 mph.

“From the very first Mustang Cobra Jets dominating the 1968 NHRA Winternationals to our modern-day Cobra Jet racers, the Ford Performance Parts team continues to build the Cobra Jet brand based on its success at the track over five decades,” said Eric Cin, global director, Ford Performance Parts. “That, in turn, has inspired generations of Mustang fans to create their own performance machines for the street.”

The purpose-built drag racer developed on the 2018 Ford Mustang platform is limited to 68 non-VIN production cars. It includes a supercharged 5.2-liter Coyote V8 and unique four-link rear suspension, along with a Ford 9-inch solid rear axle from Strange Engineering. Race add-ons include NHRA-certified roll cage, Racetech FIA seats, and a drag race-specific coil-over suspension with specially designed Weld Racing wheels with 50th anniversary badging.

The result is a turnkey racer that showcases many performance add-ons available from the Ford Performance Parts catalog for Mustang dating back to the original 1968 Cobra Jet. Offered in either Race Red or Oxford White, the 2018 Mustang Cobra Jet features an available commemorative 50th anniversary graphics package and anniversary badging.

This summer, the final 2018 Mustang Cobra Jet ordering and product specifications will be released. The car is designed to be legal for National Hot Rod Association drag racing, along with several National Mustang Racers Association and National Muscle Car Association classes.

Planet Ford Recognizes March Employee Milestones

At Planet Ford in Spring, Texas (serving Houston, The Woodlands, Aldine, Conroe) we are thankful to have an amazing multi-award winning team that are dedicated and truly care about doing everything they can to assist our customers with all of their automotive needs.

Each month we pause to celebrate our teams birthdays and milestones. Yesterday, we celebrated employees with anniversaries and birthdays in March. Shawn Burns, General Manager and Operating Partner, recognized Kelly Witt for her 11 years of service and also presented John Dvorak, General Manager for Planet Lincoln, with a gift for his milestone anniversary of five years at the dealership.

Shawn also recognized our Employee of Month for March.  Congratulations to Crystal Pate for achieving the honor of Employee of the Month. Each employee received a free spin and chance to win some extra cash by taking a turn at the Planet Money Wheel, a longstanding tradition at our dealership.

2019 Ford Bullitt Coming to Ford Dealership

The team at Planet Ford in Spring, Texas (serving Houston, The Woodlands, Adline, Cypress) is thrilled to hear that the limited-edition 480-horsepower 2019 Mustang Bullitt will be jetting into Ford dealerships soon.

Like the 1968 hit Warner Bros. film “Bullitt,” dealerships across America are bracing for a late summer blockbuster as orders have officially begun for the limited-edition 480-horsepower 2019 Mustang Bullitt.

The iconic 2019 Mustang Bullitt traces its roots to the legendary Highland Green 1968 Mustang GT fastback Steve McQueen thrashed in the action thriller “Bullitt” 50 years ago. Complete with classic cue ball shifter, the 2019 Bullitt bundles the latest Mustang GT Premium and Performance Package content in a sleek, understated design – while packing a hefty punch.

The new Mustang Bullitt delivers even more power, thanks to its performance open air intake, Mustang Shelby GT350 intake manifold, plus a larger 87-millimeter throttle body and unique powertrain control module calibrations delivering 480 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque* and deliver a top speed of 163 mph – an 8 mph increase versus the latest Mustang GT. A fully active black NitroPlate™ quad-tip exhaust comes standard.

Bullitt customers have two color choices – Shadow Black and classic Dark Highland Green. Appointments include subtle chrome accents for the unique black grille and front windows, classic torque-thrust 19-inch aluminum wheels and red-painted Brembo™ brakes.

There’s minimal badging inside and out. All that’s visible on the exterior is the circular faux gas cap Bullitt logo at the rear center. A leather-trimmed interior features unique accent stitching in green on the dashboard, door panels, center console and seats.
