Planet Ford Awards $2,500 Student Scholarships

Congratulations to this years recipients of Screen Shot 2016-04-21 at 12.04.48 AMthe Planet Ford in Spring, TX scholarships. The Randall Reed family and Planet Ford team in Spring, Texas are excited to announce five scholarship winners.

The scholarship awards are open to graduating high school seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher. One student applicant from each participating school is eligible to win a $2,500 award. The winners were selected by a Planet Ford panel based on a students grades, school and community involvement and goals for the future.

“There were so many amazing candidates this year,” said Shawn Burns, General Manager/Operating Partner of Planet Ford in Spring. “It was a real challenge for our team to narrow it down to a handful of winners. It also speaks to how special those selected truly are.”

Randall Reed, owner of Planet Ford in Spring and World Class Auto Group agreed. “These  are some extraordinary kids. We are so happy to help encourage and support their future endevors. They are going to go far in life,” he said.

Scholarship winners include:

Conroe High School: Julia Meyer; attending Texas A & M University for Biomedical Sciences

Oak Ridge High School:  Katie James; attending Texas A & M University for English

The Woodlands College Park High School:  Hailey Rogers; attending Georgia Institute of Technology for Chemical Engineering

The Woodlands High School:  Matthew McClellan; attending the University of Texas at Austin for Chemical Engineering

Caney Creek High School:  Olivia Wren; attending the University of Houston for Business.

Planet Ford Supports Spring Youth via Tri-Club Livestock Show

spring try club livestock showPlanet Ford in Spring, Texas believes it is key to support our youth.  Each year, Planet is proud to serve as an sponsor of the Spring Tri-Club Livestock Show & Fair.

This year, the 65th annual event was held at the L. C. Nagy Pavilion.  From April 7th to 9th, the youth of the Spring Tri-Club hosted a live auction, private sale as well as a silent auction to raise proceeds for the club.

The Spring Tri-Club encourage youth to become better students in the development of skills in practical agricultural and homemaking projects through personal achievement and to make better citizens and leaders for the community, state and nation through competitive achievement. The objectives and purposes of this organization are to encourage youth to become better students in the development of skills in practical agricultural and homemaking projects through personal achievement and to make better citizens and leaders for the community, state and nation through competitive achievement.

Planet Ford Drive One 4 UR School at Klein High School

Drive one 4 ur school klein high schoolWhat a great event! Planet Ford in Spring had a wonderful time supporting Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School with Klein High School. March 5th, the Planet Ford team rolled into Klein High School with several brand new Ford models, including the Ford F-150 and popular Mustang.

The goal was to raise up to $6,000. For every valid test drive taken, Ford donates $20 to the high school. Planet worked with the Lady Tigers Girls Soccer Team who hosted this FUNraising event.

At the end of the day, we conducted over 250 test drives and helped the Lady Tigers raise a lot of money. Stay tuned to learn how much this great group of kids, their teachers, parent and community helped to raise. We look forward to presenting them with the much deserved check soon!

Klein Collins’ Lady Tigers Girls Soccer Team will be hosting the annual FUNdraising event at the school which is located at 20811 Ella Blvd. in Spring, TX. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Planet Ford will have a variety of awesome vehicles on hand that you can take for a spin, from Mustangs to trucks to SUVS. For every valid test drive completed, Ford Motor Company donates $20 to the participating high school. The school can earn up to $6,000.

Planet Ford Supports Best Buddies Texas Friendship Walk

Best Buddies Texas Friendship Walk is taking place 8 a.m. Saturday, April 9th, at Lynn Eusan Park on the University of Houston campus. This year, Houston will also be adding a 5K Friendship Run to the Annual 1K Friendship Walk.

Last year, the Houston walk was named as a National Pacesetter by Best Buddies International and finished in the Top 10. Six teams from Houston’s event were recognized as National Pacesetters and finished in the Top 20 of ALL walk-teams across the United States.

Thanks to all those hard walkers, Best Buddies Texas raised over $75,000 and welcomed over 800 walkers. It was a great event in spite of the slight sprinkle of rain!

Planet Ford, The Woodlands Rotary Club Support STOP HUNGER NOW

stop hunger nowPlanet Ford in Spring, Texas and our team greatly enjoy helping our local community partners, including the Rotary Club of The Woodlands. This week’s meeting did not follow the typical meeting agenda.  Instead, The Woodland Rotarians used their time to support STOP HUNGER NOW.  Together, we packaged meals through a fun, hands-on assembly line process.  When it was all said and done, nearly 10,000 meals had been assembled.

Each dehydrated meal is highly nutritious and comprises of rice, soy, vegetables, flavoring and essential vitamins and minerals.  Each care package provides a reasonable serving for six and can be transport, stored and distributed to those in need.

STOP HUNGER NOW is a significant contributor in domestic and international disaster response efforts. The organization provides more than 5 million meals and 400 tons of aid to support the victims of the Haiti earthquake in 2010 and nearly 200,000 meals to victims of Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

What a great day for the Rotary Club of The Woodlands!  It is an honor for Planet Ford on I-45 to be part of this club and support its efforts in our community.
