Ford’s New Series On YouTube: ESCAPE My Life

Ford has come up with another innovative and entertaining way to educate car shoppers about their vehicles. Now, they have a brand new series out called Escape My Life.  Can you guess who the star is? Yep, it’s the all-new 2013 Ford Escape. Everyone at Planet Ford in Spring, Texas is loving it!

So, here is the premise as the series get’s underway: Finding herself in need of a new car, wardrobe designer Skylar Browning learns from a friend about a Ford marketing program in which high-profile entertainment peeps can try out brand-new cars for free. Skylar meets the head of the program, John Vernon who seems quite eager to help out, but when she gets home with her all-new 2013 Ford Escape, Skylar is shocked to find that it comes with its own babysitter — a strange man (we think he is indeed that) named Barry.

That’s not all. There are lots of episodes. In episode two, Skylar learns that she has signed up with a 24/7 Barry. Yep. He is “on board” to serve as her product specialist and “report” on their experiences with the Ford Escape. He becomes more than just excess luggage — starting with his insistence that she and everyone she works with read his spec script “YESTERDEAD” (about time-traveling zombies) and finishing with the director of an underwear commercial insisting Barry replace the model in the shoot. Plus, this is a great episode for anyone wanting to learn more about the available SYNC® with MyFord Touch® system.

You can watch LOTS of other funny episodes at: http://www.youtube.com/user/fordescape/EML

Ford C-MAX Energi: Tops All Utility and Compact Vehicles with EPA-Rated 620-Mile Range

Look how far the C-Max can take you on one fill-up! Now available at Planet Ford in Spring (serving greater Houston area). www.PlanetFord45.com

Look how far the C-Max can take you on one fill-up! Now available at Planet Ford in Spring (serving greater Houston area). www.PlanetFord45.com

Ford has done it, again. The company reports they are now America’s most efficient utility vehicle with Ford’s new 108-MPGe C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid. It also has the most range of any utility or compact vehicle with a 620-mile overall driving range as rated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

How far do you want to go?
Check out the map. C-MAX Energi drivers can travel from Detroit to New York City, San Francisco to Las Vegas, or even Portland, Ore., to Twin Falls, Idaho. Those long distances on one fill up are thanks to the combined use of the power stored in the vehicle’s advanced lithium-ion battery and one tank of gasoline.

Competition in the Dust
How do the competitors do? The Toyota Prius plug-in trails behind the C-MAX Energi by 80 miles at 540 miles of overall range, and the Chevrolet Volt comes in third at only 380 miles.

“C-MAX Energi is America’s most efficient utility vehicle, a great symbol of how Ford gives customers the power to choose leading fuel-efficiency across our lineup with gas prices spiraling upwards of $5 a gallon in some parts of the country,” said John Davis, C-MAX chief engineer. “The C-MAX Energi’s leading range also means customers can spend more time on the road and more money on their priorities instead of at the gas pump.”

So, the C-MAX Energi can get up to 21 miles in all-electric mode. That means at least one leg of the average work commute – reportedly 20 miles each way – could be completed each day on electric battery charge only, allowing customers to save gas as they face traffic congestion during their commute.

The Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid offers up to six miles in all-electric range. The C-MAX Energi can travel three times more distance than the Prius plug-in hybrid before first engine start.

Study Says!
A study by the U.S. Department of the Treasury estimates congestion consumed an extra 1.9 billion gallons of fuel in 2011, approximately 5 percent of all gasoline used.

Debuting this fall with a 108 MPGe city EPA rating and for $29,995 after a federal tax credit, the C-MAX Energi is Ford’s first production plug-in hybrid vehicle and part of the company’s first dedicated line of hybrids.

Power of choice
C-MAX Energi figures prominently in Ford’s rollout of electrified vehicles. Ford’s other electrified vehicles include:
•    Focus Electric: Production began late 2011; America’s most fuel-efficient compact with 110 MPGe city and 105 MPGe combined; 6 MPGe better than the Nissan Leaf
•    C-MAX Hybrid delivers EPA-certified 47 mpg city, 47 mpg highway ratings – 7 mpg better than the Toyota Prius v on the highway – for a 47 mpg combined rating
•    All-new Fusion Hybrid is America’s most fuel-efficient sedan after being certified by the EPA to deliver 47 mpg city, 47 mpg highway, 47 mpg combined. This beats the Toyota Camry Hybrid by 8 mpg highway, 4 mpg city•    Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid: Will begin production by the end of this year; aiming to be the most fuel-efficient midsize car in the world with more than 100 MPGe

You can see the all-new C-Max at Randall Reed’s Planet Ford in Spring (serving The Woodlands and greater Houston area). Shop online anytime at www.PlanetFord45.com.

The sleek new model will be available in addition to the Fusion Hybrid SE. According to Ford, the Titanium edition was developed in response to consumer demand for a higher level of luxury in a hybrid.

“Traditionally, car buyers have had to compromise when selecting between class-leading efficiency, premium amenities and value,” said Samantha Hoyt, Fusion Marketing manager. “The new Fusion Hybrid Titanium lets customers have it all.”

Stylish Outlook The new Ford Fusion is a stand out in styling in the mid-size car market. It was designed to exuding confidence, sophistication and a dynamic attitude. Fusion Titanium models come standard with desirable features, such as front fog lamps, chrome accents on the door handles, a rear-deck spoiler and polished 18-inch alloy wheels.

Technology and design are integrated in look that is address function and fashion. Both front seats get power adjustability, with the driver’s seat getting 10 directions from which to choose. All seats along with the steering wheel and shift lever are trimmed in leather. “All of the interior materials and surface finishes provide the sense of arriving at a destination,” said Gary Braddock, Fusion interior designer. “Metallic finishes on the door, instrument panel and center console are bright without being reflective, allowing the interior to look expensive without being ostentatious.”

Tech Talk Controls fall readily to hand in the driver-oriented cockpit of the Fusion, and Titanium models get a 12-speaker Sony® audio system with HD Radio™. The award-winning SYNC® connectivity system is augmented with the enhanced voice control capability of MyFord Touch® along with SYNC Services on every Fusion Titanium. A rear view camera and Reverse Sensing System help to keep the driver aware of what is behind the Fusion while backing up. For night driving, an ambient lighting system provides a relaxing and pleasant cabin environment while an auto-dimming electrochromic rearview mirror ensures the driver is never blinded by other vehicles with bright headlights coming up from behind.

Hy-Powered  Fusion’s new hybrid powertrain is activated by a push-button start so the key can stay in a pocket or purse. The advanced lithium-ion battery pack is a third lighter than before but provides more power, which enables electric driving at speeds up to 62 mph. “With Fusion Hybrid Titanium, going green no longer means having an austere ride,” says Hoyt. “No guilt, no pain.”

Ford F-150 “Owns Work” with Best-in-Class Capability Across Various Vocations

Like its big brother F-Series Super Duty, the Ford F-150 pickup is the market sales leader across a variety of commercial, industrial and various vocations.

Ford is now telling the F-150 story with a series called “We Own Work.”  They are  providing an online forum for hard-working, hard-playing owners to share their F-150 stories and recognize their each others contributions.
The “We Own Work” campaign starts with an online manifesto, which will be followed by a series of videos and stories with an up-close and personal look at Ford F-150 owners and how they use their trucks for business and pleasure that invariably involves more work for the vehicle.
According to data from R.L. Polk, from heavy construction to rough road maintenance, the Ford F-150 holds a dominant market share position against its light-duty competitors.
For example, F-150 leads in a variety of fields, including:
  • 62 percent market share in road and highway maintenance
  • 68 percent share in hazardous materials work
  • 67 percent share in the oil pipeline industry
Best-in-class V6 towing
According to Ford, the F-150 pickup is equipped with the standard 3.7-liter V6 engine has the highest towing capacity among competitive models. It can tow a 6,700-pound trailer, besting the 2013 Ram 1500 3.6-liter V6 by 200 pounds and the Chevrolet Silverado 4.3-liter V6 model by 1,300 pounds.
The Ford F-150 with 3.7-liter V6 engine beats the Toyota Tundra’s standard 4.0-liter V6 model by an additional 1,800 pounds. The Nissan Titan offers no comparable V6 variant.
F-150 also owns the maximum towing capacity title. Both the 3.5-liter EcoBoost® and 6.2-liter V8 are rated to tow up to best-in-class 11,300 pounds.

EcoBoost: 200,000 and climbing
In August, sales of the Ford F-150 pickup equipped with the advanced 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine crested to 200,000 units. Ford’s patented EcoBoost engine delivers an unmatched combination of best-in-class towing and payload, torque and fuel economy.
87K Miles Later
One of those 200,000 EcoBoost-powered F-150 pickups – a four-door SuperCrew – was purchased by an oil field service contractor named James Tapp. Crisscrossing Oklahoma maintaining oil pumping machinery in the field, Tapp has put more than 87,000 trouble-free miles on his F-150 in just 17 months.
Averaging more than 5,100 miles per month, Tapp rarely shuts off his truck unless it is parked in his garage at home. “During business hours, I literally live and work in my truck,” Tapp says. “When the truck isn’t hauling me out to some remote oil rig needing service, it’s idling nearby. When it isn’t working, it gets used to haul my family.”

Ford Makes Forbes’ Most Anticipated Car List

Ford is making headlines again. This time two different Fords have made the Most Anticipated Cars of 2013 in Forbes Magazine.

This is the time of year consumers start seeing new model year vehicles rolling onto showroom floors. According to Forbes, the 2013 model year is shaping up to be better than most, with more than 30 all-new nameplates headed to showrooms and many existing models being reinvented.

With the average age of cars on the road being approximately 11 years, automakers are said to believe there’s an unprecedented level of pent-up demand. Over the years, many consumers have held off on buying a new vehicle due to job or economy issues or concerns. With the economy rebounding, credit terms easing and consumer confidence on the rise, the industry is picking up steam.

Some of the new things you will notice include: better gas mileage, a broader selection of hybrids and plug-in vehicles, as well as improvements in the fuel economy of traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. According to Forbes, you’ll see features like continuously variable transmissions, direct injection, variable valve timing and start-stop technology all help to make today’s cars go further on a tank of gas.

Some of the 2013 models offer a choice between an efficient gas engine or an electric powertrain. The 2013 Ford Fusion, for instance, has a choice of four-cylinder gas engines getting 33 to 37 mpg on the highway, but will also be available as a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid.

Forbes reports that many new models are outfitted with a lot of new safety features, from blind spot detection and lane departure warning systems to backup cameras and forward collision assist, which will hit the brakes if you don’t act quickly enough.

Many also offer media features that allow you to take your music and social life with you. Plus, a variety of in-car info and entertainment systems.

With so many new vehicles being introduced, Forbes culled a list of what they believe will be the most important 2013 models coming to the marketplace. Forbes‘ list is based on factors such as:  breakthrough technologies, significant powertrain advances and, in some cases, the car’s importance to a company’s business model. Here are two Fords that made Forbes’ list of the Most Anticipated Cars of 2013.

2013 Ford Fusion
Likely price: $22,000 to $30,000
Ford aims to redefine the competitive mid-sized car segment with the Aston Martin-inspired look of the new Fusion sedan, available with gasoline, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The hybrid will get 47 mpg in the city; the Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid will get the equivalent of at least 100 mpg.

2013 Ford C-Max hybrid
Starting price: $25,995
The C-Max is a compact utility van sold in Europe. In the U.S., it’ll be sold only as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid. The C-Max hybrid has a 570-mile driving range, and gets 47 mpg in both city and highway driving. The C-Max Energi, coming later this fall, can go more than 20 miles on electricity alone, and will have a total range of 550 miles. Features in both vehicles include a hands-free liftgate and panoramic sunroof.
