Randall Reed, Planet Ford Awarded Spring ISD Teachers of the Year with New Car, Cruise

This past Thursday, two Spring ISD teachers received the surprise of a lifetime at the Spring ISD Employee Recognition Banquet. Planet Ford in Spring attended the event to honor the top two educators in Spring ISD, awarding one a brand new Ford vehicle and the other an all-inclusive Caribbean cruise for two!

It was an unforgettable evening at this year’s Spring ISD Employee Recognition Banquet, as two teachers were honored as the district’s Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year. Robert Silvy was handed the keys to a brand new Ford car or SUV donated by Randall and Sherry Reed and Planet Ford on I-45. “I’m speechless,” said Mr. Silvy. “These things just don’t happen. I can’t believe it. Thank you Randall and Sherry Reed and Planet Ford!”

Tamia McEwen was awarded a Carnival Preferred Awards Plus all-expense paid cruise for two to the Bahamas, also provided by the Reed Family and Planet Ford. “I can’t believe it,” said Ms. McEwen. “I can’t thank you all enough. Oh my gosh, I’m going to the Bahamas!” Planet Ford is proud to be a part of such a great community with great educators and truly values the importance of these community leaders.

The Spring ISD Employee Recognition Banquet took place Thursday, May 1^st, at the Hilton North Houston. Complete with great food, lively entertainment and interesting people, the event was a huge success as everyone enjoyed the build-up to the main event. Media personnel were on hand to capture the experience and get some interviews before the big announcement was made on stage.

Spring ISD’s Teacher of the Year program recognizes outstanding educators for their passion and commitment to excellence in education. Each Spring ISD school selects their campus Teacher of the Year, who are invited to submit written materials to be considered as a finalist for the district’s Teacher of the Year. A selection committee chooses an Elementary and a Secondary Teacher of the Year to represent the district. They will be introduced in a surprise announcement at the banquet May 1^st.

Randall Reed, Planet Ford Present Scholarship to Spring High School Student

Brittany Turner, Westfield senior, receives the surprise of a lifetime. Randall Reed, owner of Planet Ford in Spring along with Shawn Burns, GM/OP, present the college-bound student with a $5,000 scholarship.

Congratulations Brittany Turner! The senior at Westfield High School in Houston is the recipient of a $5,000 scholarship from Randall and Sherry Reed and Planet Ford in Spring, Texas.

“We are thrilled to award this scholarship to such a hard-working and deserving student,” said Randall Reed, owner of Planet Ford in Spring. “Sherry and I believe it’s extremely important that businesses offer their support to local schools and help kids, like Brittany, plan a path to success.”

Shawn Burns, General Manager/Operating Partner agrees, “We love working with area school districts on various projects, such as providing a new Ford vehicle for the Teacher of the Year,” he said. “Being able to surprise a a student with a much-needed scholarship and seeing both the reaction of her and her parents really means a lot.”

Thursday, May 1, two Spring ISD educators will receive the surprise of a lifetime at this year’s Spring ISD Employee Recognition Banquet. Randall Reed, owner of Randall Reed’s Planet Ford in Spring, will be on hand to reward these hard-working teachers. He will be gifting a brand-new Ford vehicle to one and an all-inclusive Caribbean cruise to the other.

Houston Picked for 2014 Ford EcoBoost Challenge

It’s time to get close and personal with the latest and greatest Ford models during the 2014 Ford EcoBoost Challenge! Entering the second year of the event, Ford Motor Company will trek across the United States to 12 different cities to give fans an exclusive chance to engage with the best products Ford has to offer. The 2014 Ford EcoBoost Challenge will feature a handful of vehicles from Ford’s line-up that showcase the powerful but fuel-efficient EcoBoost engine. You’ll find all your Ford favorites at this event, like the speedy Focus ST or the sporty Fiesta ST. Stroll on over to the closed-course competitor challenge to find other Ford’s like the Escape, Fusion, or F-150. The EcoBoost Challenge will host a few different events for fans. Participants can compete against the clock in a Fiesta ST or ride a few thrilling laps with a professional driver in the Focus ST. Fans of hybrid vehicles will get a chance to pit the C-MAX Hybrid up against the competition.

This years event will begin in Phoenix on April 12th and will make its way through 11 other cities by the end of this summer. With over 28,000 fans in attendance for last year’s event, Ford hopes to build on the success from last years challenge. With the introduction of the all-new 2.3L EcoBoost for their 2015 Mustang, Ford is committed to building the EcoBoost brand to be one of the most powerful but efficient engine lineups.

The EcoBoost engine line combines advanced engine technologies to deliver an incredible driving experience to consumers. With turbocharging, direct injection and variable valve timing technologies, the EcoBoost engine serves up a powerful, responsive feel while conserving fuel consumption. As the leader in turbocharged direct-injected gasoline engines in North America, the EcoBoost is set to appear in more than 90% of Ford’s North American lineup by the end of 2014.

Pursuit of a Happy Commute Campaign

Ford owners are hard-working, busy people, and Ford knows it. Daily tasks, from taking care of the kids to work matters and everything in-between are jammed into daily schedules, and the last thing anyone wants to deal with is the grueling hour-long round-trip journey to the office and back.

As a way to address the stressful commute issue that hundreds of millions of Ford owners deal with on a day-to-day basis, Ford Motor Co. has started the Pursuit of a Happy Commute initiative to help decrease the negative impact of tedious morning and evening commutes. With the help McGuire Research, Ford has conducted a study* across the nation regarding how people handle their morning commute. Here’s a few notable tidbits from the study:

Two out of three Americans spend at least 30 minutes commuting daily.
Almost have of commuters always or very frequently encounter traffic during their commute
Two in five Americans multitask during their commute
Many say improved gas mileage would improve their commute (check out the video below to see how some Ford driver’s improve their MPG)

Furthermore, many respondents agreed that their daily commute was eating into exercise time, family time and time for personal hobbies and interests. Many of the gridlock grinders describe their commute as stressful, frustrating, long and unpredictable.

Ford’s Pursuit of a Happy Commute hopes to reduce these commuting consequences by giving drivers the features they want for those long and frustrating rides. By increasing gas mileage, improving sound insulation, using climate controlled seats, and having an intuitive entertainment interface in MyFordTouch/SYNC, Ford strives to continue providing the best commute possible for driver’s across the country.

King Ranch, Ford Reaches 15-Year Milestone

Ford Motor Co. recently unveiled an incredible gallery of the three new 2015 King Ranch models: the F-150, F-Series Super Duty and Expedition. All are set to be launched in late 2014. Ford also unveiled a bit of history behind their 15-year relationship with the world-famous King Ranch in Kingsville, Texas. This achievement came easy for the hard-working pair, who have crafted an authentic alliance based on similar work philosophies, common business practices, and identical core values.

Such a milestone is important for both King Ranch and Ford Motor Company as it celebrates the unique partnership that has developed between the manufacturer of the most popular truck in the United States and the owners behind the largest ranch in Texas. Ford invited the official photographer of Texas, Wyman Meinzer, to capture the unique partnership between Ford and King Ranch. According to Meinzer, “King Ranch is a legacy. 2015 Ford F-150 Offers New Features

Here at Randall Reed’s Planet Ford in Spring (also serving The Woodlands, Aldine, Conroe and the greater Houston area), we are anxiously waiting for the arrival of the all-new 2015 Ford F-150.

In the new F-150 model, you will see an array of both minor and major changes, both inside and outside of the vehicle. All of the added features and enhancements may make this the best F-150 yet. We’ve created a brief video and accompanying list of a few new features to take note of on the 2015 F-150.

Under the Hood

The 2015 F-150 features a newly designed 2.7L EcoBoost engine complete with a compacted graphite iron block. This extremely strong engine block is also found in Ford’s 6.7L PowerStroke diesel engine. This revamped engine was also designed with automatic start/stop technology, variable-displacement oil pump, and stronger yet lighter connecting rods Though there are other engine options available, the 2.7L EcoBoost comes standard on the 2015 F-150.

Exterior

The newest addition to the F-150 family showcases a state-of-the-art, military-grade aluminum alloy that is used to create the body, cab, and truck bed. The aluminum alloy replaces a steel body, resulting in 700 lbs. less weight than 2014 model. Fear not, the new F-150 is still Built Ford Tough. The aluminum alloy used is incredibly strong and the truck frame is still made of high-strength steel. This combo yields an efficient yet powerful truck. The exterior also hosts LED box lighting and LED spotlight mirrors for improved vision during dusk, dawn, or anytime in between.

Interior

The dashboard has received an elegant makeover and is outfitted with high-quality materials. Inside the cab, you’ll find 400 Watt power plugs for quick charging access as well as LCD screen that feeds video from the exterior mounted 4-camera monitoring system (great for tight spaces, job sites, and trails). The dash also features a 8-inch LCD productivity display mounted in the instrument panel, providing instant access to driving statistics and other relevant information.

2015 Ford Expedition Debuts in Dallas

All of the latest vehicles from your favorite manufacturers, including the all-new 2015 Ford Expedition, are in attendance at this year’s show! Ford has made a handful of improvements to the all-new Expedition. Expect to pay less at the pump as the Ford team has done away with the gas-guzzling V8 engine previously found in the Expedition and replaced it with a 3.5L direct-injected twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine. This new engine was created to increase the fuel efficiency to one of Ford’s most popular SUVs without sacrificing performance.

Three drive modes (comfort, normal and sport) shows that the 2015 Expedition is built with the driver in mind. Electric power-assisted steering and an advanced suspension system gives the driver increased feel and better maneuverability. Complete with the SYNC system with MyFord Touch and the radar-based Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), we’re sure you’ll fall in love with this vehicle.
