This will come as no surprise to Ford truck lovers… The Texas Auto Writers Association named the 2014 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor the “Off-Road Truck of Texas.”

For three days, Texas Auto Writers Association members put trucks through rigorous testing at the Knibbe Ranch near San Antonio.

“Members of Texas Auto Writers pushed Raptor to the limit on one of the most rugged off-road courses in Texas,” according to Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager. “Raptor again showed why it’s the most capable off-road pickup in America, as well as America’s favorite.”

garner new fans and sales success with record sales performance eight of the past 10 months and sales up 14 percent this year. With sales expected to remain strong, Ford is increasing the vehicles production and growing assembly from three trucks per hour to five.

Continuously improved each year since its debut, the new Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition – the latest variant – adds upgrades inside and out to further differentiate its appearance and to appeal to luxury truck buyers seeking uncompromised performance off-road.

The 2014 Ford Flex features a twin turbo V-6 EcoBoost engine churning out 365 horsepower with 350 foot pounds of torque.  The Flex produces this impressive power while still delivering similar fuel economy. Fighting for a close second is the Dodge Durango with 290 horsepower and 260 foot pounds of torque. Coming in last is the GMC Acadia with 288 horsepower and 270 foot pounds of torque.

Randall Reed’s Planet Ford “In the Pink” custom-created 2014 Ford Mustang made its on-air debut on Fox 26 News in Houston.   Ruben Dominguez with Fox News (@Fox26Ruben) interviewed Erica Rico, a local radio celebrity from Q Morning Zoo on 93Q (@ericarico93Q) . She is driving the specially designed “pink” Ford the entire month of October to help aid in the awareness of breast cancer and Planet Ford’s fundraising efforts.

Planet Ford in Spring (serving The Woodland, Cypress, Conroe and greater Houston area) has joined forces with the Northeast Hospital Foundation for the Memorial Hermann Cancer Center – Northeast. Now through October 31, 2013, Planet Ford will donate a portion of the sale of every new Ford for Project Mammogram.

October 1 to October 31, 2013, Planet Ford in Spring (serving The Woodlands, Cypress, Aldine, Conroe and greater Houston) will donate a portion of the sale of every new vehicle to the Northeast Hospital Foundation for the Memorial Hermann Cancer Center – Northeast.

To aid in the awareness of breast cancer, Planet Ford has equipped local KKBQ radio celebrity, Erica Rico with a new, custom-created 2013 “In the Pink” Planet Ford Mustang.

October 2, 2013, Fox News – Ch. 26 in coordination with KKBQ morning show will launch Planet Ford’s “In the Pink” event during the morning news program.

The 2014 Ford Fiesta with an SFE package has the best in class highway miles per gallon and an impressive 34 combined miles per gallon. Over five years, you can save $3,750 in fuel costs compared to the average new vehicle.  The Honda Civic falls short with 32 combined miles per gallon and the Chevy Cruz with only 30 miles per gallon.

As the demand for smaller cars increase, the demand for an improved interior has also increased.  The Ford Fiesta excels in style and design with Leather-trimmed seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and available RECARO seats. The Chevrolet Cruze offers more Front Hip and Head Room.  Consumer Guide says the Honda Civic “for tall occupants has no excess headroom, especially beneath the sunroof housing.” 

Technology plays an important role in making a decision on which new car to get. The Chevy Cruze offers Chevrolet MYLink, turn-by-turn navigation, mobile apps, and a Pioneer audio system. The Fiesta comes standard with a rear view camera; reverse sensing system, intelligent access with push-button start, ambient lighting, and Sony Branded audio system. Honda Civic has I-MID: Intelligent Multi-information Display; it uses Bluetooth for your phone and music, and has audible text messaging.

When it comes to safety all three cars receive excellent safety ratings. The Ford Fiesta and Chevy Cruze were named a top safety pick for both 2013 and 2014. U.S. News and World Report says the Fiesta “excels where many subcompact cars fall flat with its nimble handling, great fuel economy and an impressive list of optional features.” The 2014 Ford Fiesta was also ranked as the #2 most affordable small car. Overall, it was a close battle but the Ford Fiesta emerged to take the title.

Inside and out, the Taurus is winning over reviewers and consumers. The Ford Taurus leads the pack in engine performance with a 2.0 liter EcoBoost I-4 engine that packs the power of a V-6 engine and the efficiency of a 4 cylinder engine. The Taurus touts the best in class fuel economy for full size sedans with 22 city 32 highway and 26 combined miles per gallon.

The Avalon and Impala fall short with the Avalon’s 25 combined miles per gallon and the Impala with only 22 combined miles per gallon.

When you are looking for a new car you want the latest and greatest technology right? Once again the Ford Taurus takes charge in this area including BLIS® with Cross Traffic Alert, Push-Button Start, and SYNC® with MyFord Touch® including an 8-inch color LCD touch screen. The Toyota Avalon has Entune with a 6.1-inch touch-screen and an 8 speaker sound system. The worst of the bunch is the Impala with Chevrolet MyLink and optional navigation system with some reviewers say the rearview camera resolution is poor.

When you take a step inside these full-size cars you will notice ample interior features. The Ford Taurus has standard heated and cooled seats, optional rear heated seats, more front and rear hip room, and class exclusive multi-contour active motion front seats that have a 6-way lumbar and subtle rolling-pattern massage providing a more relaxed drive.

Reviewers say the Avalon’s cabin boasts an attractive interior design and premium materials, which gives it an upscale feel. The redesigned interior of the Chevy Impala has gained positive reviews but some have noted some shortcomings, such as flimsy plastics on the center console, which detract from the premium feel.

All three cars were crash tested and given a 5 Star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
