Drive One 4 UR School participants take new Ford from Planet Ford in Spring for a test drive!
Planet Ford in Spring and Ford Motor Co. are both big believers in giving back to our communities. One of our ongoing unified efforts is called Drive One 4 UR School. Students, parents, family, teachers, faculty and community all come out to help raise big money for our local schools.
This past Saturday, Planet Ford in Spring (serving The Woodlands, Aldine, Tomball, Conroe, Houston and surrounding areas) teamed up with Klein Oak High School’s baseball team in Spring, Texas in an effort to raise thousands of dollars.
The “Drive One” event was a home run! For every Ford taken on a demonstration drive the Klein Oak High School’s baseball team received $20 up to 300 rides. They earned the max amount of $6000 from Ford Motor Co.

Start your engines, NASCAR fans! This weekend, the “stock car” officially returns to NASCAR competition. That’s right, after more than two years of development, including extensive work by the Ford design center and aerodynamic experts, the 2013 NASCAR Fusion is heading to the track for the 55th running of the Daytona 500.
“This is a day so many of us at Ford and Ford fans have been waiting for,” said Jamie Allison, director, Ford Racing. “When we first unveiled the 2013 NASCAR Fusion in Charlotte in January 2012, we said we wanted to help return the ‘stock car back to NASCAR.’ Without question, with this car, we have.” The new “Gen 6” race cars being introduced return manufacturer identity to NASCAR. It continues the trend of the past three years of NASCAR introducing more consumer relevance to the sport, including the use of alternative fuels, fuel injection and now, manufacturer identity. “We are a car company. This is car racing,” said Allison.
Ford said this was a great opportunity to work with NASCAR on creating cars that people see on the racetrack that really look like what they have at home. “The small experiment that showed the scale of what this could be happened with the Nationwide series when we introduced the Mustang with more identity two years ago,” Allison said. “We saw the exciting reaction from the fans, and even from people who didn’t follow NASCAR. We knew then we were on the right track.”

Ford Announces Fiesta ST Race Car and Ford’s Expanded Partnerships for Global RallyCross Championship
Listen up race fans! Ford has announced the Fiesta ST Race car and an upcoming expanded partnership. The 2014 Fiesta ST in many ways a race car that is built for the streets. Now, Global RallyCross Championship (GRC) fans will be able to get an up-close look at the same car built exclusively for competition at the Chicago Auto Show.
Ford’s global launch of the new Fiesta ST is under way. Ford Racing will soon introduce the ST performance badge in the 2013 season of the Global RallyCross Championship as well as the Global X Games.
This new move is part of Ford’s expanded Global RallyCross program that capitalizes on the growing popularity of the series and its increased visibility through X Games and some fast-paced personalities, including: Tanner Foust, Brian Deegan and Ken Block.
The first Fiesta ST GRC vehicles will debut this season with Block, Deegan and two-time Global RallyCross champion, Foust. Foust and Deegan will both give performance car enthusiasts and the media their first look at the OlsbergsMSE Fiesta ST GRC race car this week at the Chicago Auto Show.
According to Andreas Eriksson, OlsbergsMSE team principal, “OlsbergsMSE has a good history developing extreme/RallyCross cars. With the longer-term manufacturer relationship with Ford and its technical support, together we will develop even stronger RallyCross cars. ”
“Outside of our technical development, we will also be very focused on providing our drivers with the information and input they need to be the best,” he added. “This is the way our entire OlsbergsMSE program moves forward, together with Ford.”
The Global RallyCross Championship will have a true global presence this year. In addition to five North American events, there will also be four X Games this year with RallyCross competition. Ford is sole automotive sponsor for all four 2013 summer global X Games, which will include the traditional event in Los Angeles and new venues in Brazil, Spain and Germany.

2013 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid Earn Top Vehicle Safety Rating from NHTSA
Ford has done it, again! The 2013 FordFusion and Fusion Hybrid (available at Planet Ford) have been awarded a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration‘s (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).
According to Ford, the Fusion and Fusion Hybrid feature the Personal Safety System, new safety belt technologies and a total of eight airbags which are designed to provide enhanced protection for vehicle occupants including redesigned seat-mounted side airbags that deploy lower in the pelvis area in addition to the chest and incorporate new venting technology to further enhance side impact protection.
This isn’t the first safety accolade. In December 2012, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the 2013 Ford Fusion a Top Safety Pick+, the highest recommendation the organization has for vehicle safety.
Top fuel economy, driver assist technology
Going further, Ford boast a variety of other features you’re sure to love. For example, the Fusion and Fusion Hybrid offer leading fuel economy and numerous technologies that help enhance the driving experience, reduce stress and assist the driver.
Fusion provides the broadest selection of fuel-efficient powertrains in the midsize car market. Connected World Selects 2013 Ford Fusion Energi as Connected Car of the Year
The 2013 Ford Fusion Energi named midsize World Connected Car of 2013… that’s right! According to Ford, in an announcement at the 2013 International CES, Connected World Magazine has awarded the all-new Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid the midsize Connected World Connected Car of the Year.

The all-new 2013 Ford Fusion offers the most complete array of advanced connectivity and driver assist features of any mainstream sedan. The Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid includes standard SYNC® with MyFord Touch® and compatibility with the MyFord® Mobile smartphone app.

1. Find current and projected state of charge information including estimated range and the amount of charge time necessary for additional travel distances
2. Program vehicle charging with utility input, allowing the car to start charging immediately or when electricity prices are lowest with the value charging feature, powered by Microsoft
3. Using features powered by MapQuest® drivers can:
– Locate charging stations and get the destination sent to the vehicle
– Know if the vehicle can reach a specific charge station from its current location with the current charge level

6.Engage remote vehicle preconditioning, using grid power to heat or cool the battery and vehicle interior
7. Remotely lock/unlock doors
8. Use the built-in GPS system to locate the car
9. Download performance and system data
10. Earn various achievements for driving and ownership milestones that can then be posted to your Facebook or Twitter account
11. Fun ways of understanding your driver behavior, with ratings from “Zen” to “zippy”
12. Receive information personalized, depending on which key used
